Shraddha Kapoor Or Rajkummar Rao, Who Has The Last Laugh In Stree 2 Credit War? Actors Settle Debate In Viral Video

Stree 2 hit the big screens on August 15 2024 and soon became the highest-grossing film of Bollywood ever. However, the release of the movie was marred with controversy when social media was divided on whether Shraddha Kapoor or Rajkummar Rao deserves the credit for the mammoth success. Makers of the film were accused of ‘ignoring’ Rao in posts about the film’s success despite him doing the heavy lifting in terms of screen time. A year later, the actors met again to settle the debate, once and for all.

Stree 2 is all set to make its television debut on Star Gold on March 15. The cast along with the director of the horror-comedy Amar Kaushik came together to announce the television premiere in a video. The clip took a hilarious turn when the director said “Yeh film..” and was interrupted by Abhishek Banerjee who added, “Meri film hai (is my film).”

Also present in the video, Shraddha Kapoor takes over and clarifies that it is her film. Rajkummar Rao quickly quipped, “Bolne ki zarurat nahi hai, audience ko pata hai Stree 2 meri film hai. (No need to say, the audience knows Stree 2 is my film).” Aparshkai Khurrana also has fun in the conversation. The clip ends with director Amar Kaushik signalling that Stree 2 is his film and demanding some credit from the actors. In conclusion, the actors clarify that the film belongs to the audience and urge them to watch it on Star Gold when it premieres.

Shraddha’s absence till the interval point in the movie led netizens to question whether she is actually the “face of the film” as pitched on social media so far. Here’s when the conversation pivoted around Rajkummar Rao, who practically does the “heavy lifting” in Stree 2 and technically has more screen time than Shraddha.

While Shraddha was being credited with “pulling in the audiences”, a section of the social media was of the opinion that it is Rajkummar’s punchy dialogues and hilarious acts that make the people stay. Seemingly, the Badhaai Do actor’s team saw an opportunity here and started to crown him as the “lead actor” of the movie, with such posts flooding social media platforms. This led to a social media, PR generated ‘credit war’ surrounding the film.
