Shawn Mendes is performing in Mumbai as part of the Lollapalooza India 2025 music festival. As the Canadian singer took the stage at the Mahalakshmi Race Course on day 1 of the cultural gathering, he was seen wearing the Indian cricket team jersey with Virat Kohli ‘s name and his signature ’18’ printed on it.
Desis were impressed with Shawn’s special shoutout to the Indian cricket team before they take on New Zealand in the finals of Champions Trophy 2025 on Sunday, March 9.
“If you are big you are big. Thats AURA Of Sir Virat Kohli,” commented a social media user. Another one wrote, “Chikoo bhaiya is a rockstar. Even Shawn knows what Indians love.” For many, Shawn’s special gesture for the cricket-loving nation was the highlight of his performance.
Meanwhile, a video of Shawn performing his hit track Senorita on the streets of Mumbai has gone viral on the internet. In the short yet heartwarming clip, the singer sat on the streets on his knees, strummed his guitar and sang as onlookers stopped, recognised him and joined in for a sing-along.
Shawn’s private performance on Saturday (March 8) was for students of The Sound Space, a Mumbai-based music school. A video shared by the institution with the caption, “When you get a private performance of ‘Señorita’ from the artist himself… this wasn’t just a performance — it was pure magic!”
The 26-year-old Canadian singer will perform at the third edition of Lollapalooza India to be held at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse in South Mumbai on Saturday. Social media was also lit up with photos and videos of Mendes shopping in South Mumbai’s popular street Colaba Causeway, a bustling market known for its eclectic mix of shops and street vendors comprising accessories, clothing, footwear, and antique collection. Dressed casually in a vest and jeans, Mendes seamlessly blended into the crowd as he shopped for footwear.
