NEW DELHI: Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant’s disastrous form in IPL 2025 showed no signs of recovery as he fell for just 2 runs against Mumbai Indians on Friday at the Ekana Stadium, marking his third single-digit score in four games this season.
Coming in at a comfortable position with LSG cruising at 91 for 2 in the ninth over, Pant had the perfect platform to anchor the innings. Openers Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram had already added 76 runs in just seven overs. However, the LSG skipper once again failed to capitalise.

Facing just six deliveries, Pant was undone by a clever slower ball from MI captain Hardik Pandya in the 11th over. Looking to work it on the leg side, Pant got a leading edge that flew to substitute fielder Corbin Bosch, who took a stunning full-length diving catch at mid-off.

Pant’s returns this season now read: 0 (6), 15 (15), 2 (5) and 2 (6) — a worrying trend for the franchise and fans alike.
As he walked back, TV cameras captured LSG owner Sanjeev Goenka’s reaction — a wry smile from the VIP arena that spoke volumes about the frustration with Pant’s continued failures.
