NEW DELHI: After his record-breaking heroics in the previous game, Rajasthan Royals‘ teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi had a forgettable outing against Mumbai Indians in their IPL 2025 clash at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Thursday.
The 14-year-old from Samastipur, Bihar — who took the cricketing world by storm with a blistering 101 off 28 balls against Gujarat Titans — was dismissed for a two-ball duck.

Attempting an ambitious stroke off Deepak Chahar’s full delivery, Vaibhav mistimed his shot and offered a simple catch to Will Jacks at mid-on.
A stunned silence fell over the stadium following his early exit.
Rajasthan Royals’ head coach Rahul Dravid, who had celebrated Vaibhav’s century in the last match by rising from his wheelchair, looked visibly dejected in the dugout.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians made the most of favorable batting conditions. Openers Rohit Sharma (53 off 36) and Ryan Rickelton (61 off 38) produced a blistering 116-run stand, dismantling the Royals’ attack with clinical hitting.

Rohit took the lead against spin, particularly targeting Maheesh Theekshana, while Rickelton punished the pacers with precision.
Capitalising on the flying start, Suryakumar Yadav and skipper Hardik Pandya played explosive unbeaten knocks of 48 each (both off 23 balls), lifting MI to a daunting total of 217 for two after being put in to bat.
