In an era where artificial intelligence defines competitive advantage, Hong Kong faces a critical choice: adapt collectively or risk obsolescence. This summer, Preface launches “Just Start”, a mission-driven movement to mobilise one million citizens toward AI fluency. Powered by Google, Meta, Microsoft, Standard Chartered Bank, WeLab Bank, and 30+ leading organisations, this coalition transcends traditional upskilling. Its core belief: Hong Kong’s future depends on making technology learning barrier-free, continuous, and ingrained in our culture.
Breaking Barriers: A Citywide Movement To “Just Start”
As artificial Intelligence (AI) reshapes global competitiveness, Preface is introducing Hong Kong’s first free, open-access AI self-assessment tool, the AI-Q Test (AI Quotient Test) to the public. The test allows users to evaluate their current understanding of AI, receive personalised learning recommendations, and discover upskilling pathways, turning the concept of “AI for All” into meaningful action.
Developed by Preface, this online interactive tool helps individuals assess their understanding and potential in applying AI, and lays the foundation for a personalised learning journey. The test covers key areas such as prompt writing, AI scenario comprehension, and practical application. Upon completing the test, users will receive their AI-Q score and percentile ranking amongst other users in Hong Kong. Now freely available to the public and amplified through cross-sector partnerships, this diagnostic tool accelerates citywide AI adoption.
Technology is reshaping our world, but many of us let excuses like “I don’t know where to start” or “I’m too busy” hold us back. The “Just Start” movement aims to dismantle these obstacles by empowering individuals to transcend apprehension, pursue learning without economic burden, and discover career-transforming AI applications.
Preface Founder & CEO Tommie Lo states: “This isn’t about creating experts overnight. It’s about igniting a mindset shift – where every citizen, from students to CEOs, feels empowered to roll up their sleeves, take their first step into an AI-driven world. Our measure of success? A city that learns, adapts, and leads together.”
