Ponman On OTT: Basil Joseph-Lijomol Jose Starrer Superhit Set To Premiere Online On Holi



Malayalam film Ponman featuring Basil Joseph in the lead role, released in theatres today, ie, on January 30. After receiving great reviews from audience and critics, the dark-comedy movie is all set to make it digital debut this month.

After 1.5 months, the Malayalam film Omna is set to stream on JioHotstar this month. Sharing the news, the OTT platform wrote in the caption: “Ponman will be streaming from March 14 on JioHotstar!”. While the official announcement was made, however it is not sure, whether the film will be released in dubbed versions for other languages.

As per report of IMDb, Ponman’s overall collection ₹10.05 crore with a budget of ₹3 crore. Basil Joesph starrer Ponman saw a limited release in Malayalam only. It collected ₹75 lakh on its opening day. This is again a slow opening for another Basil Joseph movie this year.

As per IMDbPonman tells the story of a gold dealer Ajesh who lends  precious sovereigns for a village wedding, but finds himself in danger when the bride’s criminal husband schemes to keep the gold and silence him forever. Directed by Jotish Shankar, the film stars Basil Joseph, Sajin Gopu, Lijo Mol Jose, Anand Manmadhan, Deepak Parabola and Kiran Peethambaran among others. Kollam was the main location of this movie. Filming took place in many parts of Kollam like Munrothuruth, Thanni, Chinnakada, Kundara, Thekkumbhagam.

Ponman marked the debut of director Jotish Shankar, who is known for his works in Kumbalangi Nights, Nna, Thaan Case Kodu and Android Kunjappan Version 5.25. For the unversed, Basil Joseph was last seen in 2024 film Sookshmadarshini, which received positive reviews from critics and audience.
