PM Narendra Modi Congratulates IIFA On Completing 25 Years, Calls It A ‘Global Phenomena’



IIFA 2025: The silver jubilee of the award ceremony was held last weekend in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The celebration brought together the whos’ who of Bollywood and will now stream on TV on March 16. On March 15, the official page of IIFA 2024 shared a note by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion.

PM Narendra Modi commemorated the milestone of IIFA 2025 with a special note. In his letter of appreciation, he called IIFA a ‘global phenomenon’ and thanked the organisation for its contribution to the Hindi film industry. A part of his letter read, “I am pleased to learn about the 25th edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards. This two-and-a-half decade journey reflects the commitment of all those who have contributed towards making IIFA a truly global phenomenon—producers, directors, artists, musicians, technicians, and most importantly, audiences worldwide.”

In his note, PM also credited the organisation for spreading the ‘vibrancy’ of Indian cinema across the world.  Concluding his message, PM Modi wrote, “May this 25th edition of IIFA be a huge success. May it be the inspiration for the next 25 years of growth and achievement.”

The note was shared by the official account of IIFA with the caption, “As we celebrate 25 glorious years of the International IIFA, we are deeply honoured to receive this special message from Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, recognizing IIFA’s journey and its role in taking Indian cinema to the world. IIFA is a proudly Indian, homegrown brand that has transcended borders, uniting cultures and audiences across the globe. Connecting over 2 billion people annually, it’s a true phenomenon.”

The caption continued, “Hosting IIFA in India once again allows us to showcase its immense economic and cultural impact and welcome new visitors, boosting tourism, and opening doors for film production, business, and trade. Beyond the glamour, an event of this scale transforms cities, driving tourism, hospitality, film production, and local economies. Over the years, IIFA has elevated global destinations, inspiring filmmakers to explore new locations, attracting international attention, and reinforcing India’s position as a powerhouse of entertainment and culture.” Several industry insiders, actors and fans have reacted to the post.
