Oscar Winners On OTT: Anora And Wicked Set Streaming Dates In India, Know When And Where To Watch

Sean Baker’s Anora, which won five Oscars at the recently concluded 97th Academy Awards, is all set to stream in India this month. The Best Picture Oscar winner has set its streaming platform and date alongside another, multiple Oscar winner – Wicked.

Anora and Wicked will premiere on JioHotstar days apart after Holi. “Bringing this year’s biggest Academy Award wins to your screens! #Anora streaming from March 17th, on the Peacock Hub on JioHotstar. #Wicked streaming from March 22nd, on the Peacock Hub on JioHotstar (sic),” read a post shared by the streamer.

Dune Part 2, which won Oscars in Sound and Visual Effects categories, is already streaming on the platform. Meanwhile, Anora bagged five Oscars while Wicked clinched two as the night wrapped up, honouring the best in Hollywood and international cinema.

Anora is about an erotic dancer (Mikey Madison, the best actress Oscar winner) who marries the son of a Russian oligarch and explores her life afterwards. The film, made for $6 million, also won the Palme d’Or last May at the Cannes Film Festival.

Wicked, a musical, is told from the perspective of two witches, Elphaba and Glinda, before and after Dorothy Gale’s arrival in Oz. The story explores the complex friendship between Elphaba (who becomes the Wicked Witch of the West) and Glinda (who becomes Glinda the Good). The film stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande.
