The 71-year-old Welsh broadcaster took to social media platform X to share the news, writing:
“Knowing that I am heading to India to work on the @IPL after being given the All Clear from throat cancer by @VelindreCS @VelindreTrust @Velindre makes me feel incredibly blessed. And ‘young’ again! Never Give Up.”

Wilkins, who played as a left-arm medium pacer for Glamorgan and Gloucestershire during his cricketing career, transitioned to commentary after injury cut short his playing days. Since 1984, he has built a respected career as a broadcaster, covering cricket, rugby, tennis, and golf for leading networks.
Who’s that IPL player?
His triumphant return to the commentary box is being hailed by fans and peers alike. Wilkins’ resilience is reminiscent of fellow commentator Sir Geoffrey Boycott, who also overcame throat cancer.
