NCLT defers hearing on Bhushan Power and Steel case, post Supreme Court status quo order on liquidation proceedings


The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), Delhi on Tuesday (May 27, 2025) deferred hearing on Bhushan Power and Steel case (BPSL), after the Supreme Court ordered status quo in the liquidation proceedings against the company pending before the NCLT.

On Monday, hearing a petition filed by JSW Steel, Supreme Court ordered status quo on Bhushan Power and Steel liquidation proceedings to allow JSW Steel file review petition in the apex court.

On May 2, Supreme Court rejected JSW Steel resolution plan for BPSL and had further directed the NCLT to initiate liquidation proceedings against BPSL.

On Tuesday’s hearing, NCLT taking note of the Supreme Court status quo order, deferred the hearing in the case to August.
