'My wife also has right to skydive': JD Vance on Iran's claim on 'right to uranium enrichment'

JD Vance gave a weird analogy of his wife Usha Vance as he was commenting on Iran’s ‘right to enrich uranium’.

Vice President JD Vance gave an analogy from his marriage with Usha Vance to explain issues with the Iran war ceasefire. As Vance was speaking on the tarmac in Budapest, Hungary, he was asked a question on whether there would come a scenario in which the US might agree to allow Iran to continue enriching uranium for civilian nuclear purposes. Vance explained the difference between Iran’s “right” to enrichment and what it actually does and said Usha Vance has “right to skydive” but she does not jump out if an airplane because the couple have an agreement.“Do you see a scenario in which the administration may be willing to agree to allow Iran to continue enriching uranium for civilian nuclear purposes?” Vance was asked. “What the president has said is that we don’t want Iran to have the capacity to build a nuclear weapon. The president has also said that we don’t want Iran enriching towards a nuclear weapon and we want Iran to give up the nuclear fuel. Those are going to be our demands during the negotiation,” Vance said.“I thought to myself, you know what? My wife has the right to skydive, but she doesn’t jump out of an airplane because she and I have an agreement that she’s not going to do that because I don’t want my wife jumping out of an airplane,” Vance said as he was referring to Iranian Parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf’s comment that his country’s 10-point proposal to end the war included “Iran’s right to enrichment”. What Vance wanted to explain was that he was not concerned about the said ‘right’ and it’s more important to see what they actually do. The analogy to Second Lady Usha Vance and their marriage, however, struck a bizarre note as many social media users called it insulting to both Usha Vance and Iran.
