RAJKOT: A major point of interest in the ongoing India versus England series has been Mohammed Shami’s much-awaited return to the field after being out of action since the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Shami was expected to play right from the first match of this series, but his bowling has been restricted to just the warm-up sessions of the Indian team.

On the eve of the third T20I at the Niranjan Shah Stadium here, India’s newly-appointed batting coach Sitanshu Kotak, while clarifying that Shami was “fit,” hinted that India are perhaps planning to unleash Shami closer to the ICC Champions Trophy next month.
When to play him will be a decision that rests with India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Suryakumar Yadav, Kotak said.

Sachin Tendulkar’s contribution in ISPL is invaluable, says League Commissioner Suraj Samat

“Yes (Shami is fit). Something about him playing or not playing, I am not the one who can answer. There is definitely a plan and looking for coming matches as well and one-dayers. So, that is something the coach Gautam and obviously Surya will take a call. But (his) fitness, definitely not a problem depending on how they are planning to build his load,” Kotak said.
