Margot Robbie refused to play singer Kylie Minogue in biopic

Margot Robbie has turned down the offer to play Kylie Minogue in a film based on the singer’s life. The ‘Barbie’ star feels she cannot convey Kylie’s talent through her vocal abilities.

According to reports, Margot was chosen by Kylie to portray her in the biopic.

In 2023, Kylie was asked who she would like to play her in her biopic. “Margot Robbie—in my dreams. She’d have the Australian accent down, that’s for sure,” Kylie had said.

Reacting to the news that she was the singer’s top choice, Margot said: “That is wild information. I am beyond honoured. Of course I could not do it. I can’t sing like Kylie. I don’t like it when people can’t actually sing and do a singing movie, you know?”

Margot went on to reveal that she once had a boozy afternoon with the 57-year-old singer.

“I got a call from my team like, ‘Kylie Minogue would like to meet up with you,’ and I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is the best day of my life’. I assumed she wanted to meet to talk about some sort of work thing or maybe she was putting together a charity event or something,” the 35-year-old actress said.

“So, I get to the Chateau Marmont, a place in LA, and Kylie sat down, the coolest, warmest, most divine creature you’ve ever met,” said Margot.

On the work front, Margot Robbie is gearing up for her latest romantic fantasy film ‘A Big Bold Beautiful Journey’ with Colin Farrell that is set to be released by Sony Pictures in the United States and Canada on September 19.
