Malaika embraces her ‘boldness’

Malaika embraces her ‘boldness’

Malaika Arora’s name has always been synonymous with unapologetic boldness.

From being an artist who defined pop culture in the ’90s to being Bollywood’s “it” girl, from being a fashion and fitness icon, a mother, and now an entrepreneur carving her own path–Malaika has seen it all in her three-decade long career. And she has embraced every chapter of her life with a smile.

Yet, behind all the glitz and glamour, is a journey marred by constant judgment–be it her career choices, clothes, or personal relationships. Malaika has been scrutinised by the public for simply living her life. But she has never wavered.

And now, the 51-year-old diva is rewriting the narrative.

In a recent interview, the actress admitted that she was constantly being told what she should or shouldn’t do.

“It was tough because people love to tell you what you should or shouldn’t be. I was judged for my career, my clothes, my relationships – you name it. But the day I stopped explaining myself was the day I felt free. My biggest takeaway. The only narrative that matters is the one you write for yourself,” said the ‘Chaiyya Chiayya’ girl.

She added: “I’ve been called too bold, too outspoken, too everything. And honestly, I wear it like a crown now. If I am too much for someone, they are probably not enough for me. Whether in fashion, fitness or just film choices I’ve made, I’ve never followed a formula. I’ve always believed that real confidence comes when you stop performing for the world and start living for yourself.”

Malaika revealed that there are days of self-doubts but she has learnt to tackle those moments with kindness and compassion.

Meanwhile, on the professional front, Malaika is set to make a special appearance in a song in ‘Thama’. The film stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna and is set to hit the theatres in October this year.
