Lovely Professional University terminates all MoUs with Türkiye and Azerbaijan

Lovely Professional University (LPU) has announced the termination of all Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with institutions in Türkiye and Azerbaijan, in response to these countries’ pro-Pakistan stance during recent Indo-Pak tensions.

In a statement, the university said it had formally ended six academic partnerships with institutions from Türkiye and Azerbaijan, citing geopolitical developments that it viewed as contrary to India’s national interest.

The decision entails the immediate cessation of student and faculty exchange programs, joint research projects, dual degree initiatives, and all other forms of academic collaboration with these countries.

Ashok Kumar Mittal, Founder Chancellor of LPU, said, “When our brave armed forces are risking their lives – whether in covert operations, air defence, or patrolling our borders – we, as an institution, cannot remain indifferent.”

He added, “LPU’s mission has always been aligned with the growth and integrity of India, and we will never associate with any institution that undermines India’s sovereignty.”
