In the most recent, Kim Sae Ron’s family has released screenshots of text messages exchanged between the late actress and Kim Soo Hyun in 2016 when she was a minor.
On the afternoon of March 27, 2025, Bu Ji Seok, the legal representative of the bereaved family, held a press conference in Seocho-gu, Seoul. During the conference, he shared text messages exchanged in June 2016 between the deceased and Kim Soo Hyun. He claimed that the two were romantically involved when the late actress was still underage.
The messages revealed Kim Sae Ron sending a heart emoji and the sound of a kiss to Kim Soo Hyun. In response, he said, “Do it for real later.”
KSR: “I’m going back to filming. I’ll be back soon.”
KSH: “Come back soon, hehe. [heart emoji].”
KSR: “[heart emoji] kissing sound”
KSH: “Do it for real later hehe. Ah, is this not allowed too?”
KSR: “Nah, it isn’t. I’ll do it.”

In another explicit message, Kim Soo Hyun mentioned wanting to hug her while sleeping.
This comes after, Kim Soo Hyun previously denied claims that the relationship only started when she turned legal. The family representative questioned, “If this was not a romantic relationship, then what kind of relationship was it? I want to ask Kim Soo-hyun directly.” He emphasized that at the time, Kim Sae Ron was 17 years old.
On the 16th of last month, Kim Sae Ron was found dead at her home in Seongdong-gu, Seoul. After her death, her bereaved family claimed through the YouTube channel Garo Sero Research Institute that Kim Sae Ron had been in a relationship with Kim Soo Hyun for six years, starting in 2015 when she was 15. However, Kim Soo Hyun’s representatives disputed this, asserting that the relationship lasted only from the summer of 2019 to the autumn of 2020, after she had become an adult.
