Kill 2, Animal Park, Salaar Shouryanga Parvam, Baaghi 4: Violent Films To Look Forward To Amid Calls For Ban On Marco On OTT

Unni Mukundan’s Marco (2024), which has been streaming on two OTT platforms in India, faced a setback as CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) sought a ban on its streaming rights. The Regional Officer of the CBFC sought the Central Government’s intervention to block Marco’s streaming on OTT platforms. Marco has been deemed as one of the most violent films in the history of Malayalam cinema. Its TV premiere was cancelled due to “extreme violence”.

Gore and blood movies have increasingly been accepted among audiences in India. Last year alone, some of the movies that depicted brutal violence included movies like Animal, Kill, Bagheera and more. Some scenes in Pushpa 2, which involved graphic violence were also toned down to make the movie more audience friendly. As debate continues over violent action films and how, if at all, they influence audiences, here are some popular upcoming movies that are expected to be high on gore.

Salaar was a gory film and presented Prabhas as a “dinosaur”. Its second part, Salaar: Shouryanga Parvam is expected to be more violent than its predecessor.

Animal was one of the movies that faced immense criticism for graphic violence. Its sequel, titled Animal Park, is expected to turn up the gore meter.

Spirit is fronted by Prabhas and if reports are to be believed, the actor would play a dark role in it. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has hinted that Prabhas essays the role of a cop in it and if Vanga’s track record is anything to go by, he may push the limits of blood and gore on screen with Spirit.

Kill sequel is in the works after the sleeper success of the first part. The film franchise is high on action and gore, giving the audiences an adrenaline-pumping viewing experience.

Apart from these, Jr NTR and Prashanth Neel’s untitled movie, Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 4, Rishab Shetty’s Kantara 2, Yash starrer Toxic: A Fairytale For Grown Ups and some more upcoming titles are expected to be gore-filled.
