Kay Kay Menon hails Big B as ‘God’s chosen one’ in cinema

As he prepares for the return of his character Himmat Singh in Special Ops 2, actor Kay Kay Menon has heaped heartfelt praise on screen icon Amitabh Bachchan, describing him as “bhagwan ka baccha”—a child of God—and a figure of miraculous energy in Indian cinema.

Speaking on journalist Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, Menon reflected on the longevity and sheer work ethic of the 81-year-old Bachchan, with whom he shared screen space in Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar.

“Amitabh Bachchan bhagwan ka baccha hai. Unki generation wale kaun hai abhi? Sirf wohi active hai. He is relevant even today. He is active. He gets up every morning and starts working out. We call it ‘miracle’ and ‘magic’. I have learnt that if a person who is so experienced is working like a newcomer, who are we?” Menon said.

The actor’s remarks come at a time when Bachchan continues to remain a towering presence in Indian cinema, decades after his rise to fame in the 1970s. His recent appearance in Kalki 2898 AD has once again placed him in the centre of cinematic conversation.

Meanwhile, Menon is gearing up for the July 11 release of Special Ops 2, a follow-up to the highly successful espionage thriller series that debuted in 2020. The new season opens against the backdrop of artificial intelligence becoming a weapon of destruction. Himmat Singh, played by Menon, is summoned once again as cyber-terrorism looms large.

Karan Tacker, Vinay Pathak, Muzammil Ibrahim, Meher Vij, and Saiyami Kher return in their previous roles, while Tahir Raj Bhasin and Prakash Raj join the cast. Directed by Neeraj Pandey and co-directed by Shivam Nair, the show has been shot across Budapest, Turkey and Georgia. It is backed by Pandey’s Friday Storytellers.

“Cyber-Terrorism vs. Himmat Singh and his squad. This time, everyone is a Target!” reads the official promotional blurb on JioHotstar, which will stream the series.

Bachchan, on the other hand, has not yet announced his next film project.
