Tensions were high on Day 4 of the fifth Test at The Oval as India’s bowlers struggled to contain a surging England batting lineup. Captain Shubman Gill, clearly feeling the pressure, was heard on the stump mic urging injured pacer Akash Deep to return to action in a moment that’s since gone viral.Earlier in the day, Akash Deep took a painful blow to the shin when Harry Brook smashed a straight drive that struck the bowler flush on his right leg. Akash went down immediately, clutching his shin in agony. Though he managed to finish his over, it was clear he wasn’t at full fitness.

After Washington Sundar’s short spell failed to make an impact, Gill looked toward Akash again. That’s when the stump mic captured him saying: “Injection liya kya tum?” Watch:He was asking whether Akash had taken a painkiller injection to get back into the attack. He repeated it for emphasis, underscoring India’s urgency as England chased down a steep target of 374.Meanwhile, England’s batters continued to dominate. Joe Root notched up his 39th Test century, while Harry Brook registered his 10th, adding 195 runs together for the fourth wicket. Their partnership propelled England to 339/6 by stumps, leaving them just 35 runs away from sealing the series 3-1.Rain and bad light brought an early close to the day’s play, with Jamie Smith and Jamie Overton at the crease.Among India’s bowlers, Prasidh Krishna was the standout with three wickets, while Siraj chipped in with two.
