DYK Star Bowler Varun Chakravarthy Debuted As An Actor Before Cricketer, Made A Cameo Appearance In Tamil Film Jeeva?

Varun Chakravarthy is one of the players who stood out in the recently concluded Champions Trophy 2025. The leg-spin bowler gained limelight during the 2018 Tamil Nadu Premiere League. However, before this, the star cricketer made his silver screen debut, which is lesser known by many.

Cricket was never the first career choice for 33-year-old Varun Chakravarthy. A graduate of Architecture from SRM University, the cricketer quit his job at the age of 25 to pursue his luck in the sport. Amid this, he also made a brief appearance in the 2014 sports drama Jeeva.

Directed by Suseenthiran, the film features Vishnu and Sri Divya in the lead roles. The movie was based on a middle-lower class cricketer who had to face several hurdles in order to make it to the Indian cricket team. In Jeeva, Varun essays the role of a club cricketer. Ironically, the film mirrored Chakravarthy’s own life where he had to battle odds to unlock his highest achievements.

Not just a Tamil movie, the star cricketer has also appeared on a reality show. Varun Chakravarthy once traded the ball for a spatula when he appeared in the cooking show – Cooku with Comali. However, he eventually left all of it to venture in cricket, which proved beneficial for him over the years.
