'Didn't speak English much': DC shooter suspect Rahmanullah Lakanwal often seen playing video games

Neighbors of 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal were aware that the family of Afghan refugees were living in the area but they never got to know much about the family as ‘they never made a peep’. Their apartment was mostly empty, a neighbor told New York Post. There was no beds and only some cushions to sleep on. Lakanwal had a delivery driver job with Amazon Flex but as an independent contractor and was not working lately. His last delivery was recorded to be in August. The 7-member family including five children, kept to themselves and Rahmanullah was often seen playing Call of Duty and FIFA inside their apartment. Lakanwal did not speak much English, a neighbor confirmed. The Lakanwal family had been living in the Bellingham area of Washington State and Lakanwal drove to DC to carry out the attack that is now being probed as a premeditated terror attack. Lakanwal is not cooperating with the agencies and investigators have not yet pinpointed any motive behind his ambush-style attack.“There are certainly many more charges to come, but we are upgrading the initial charges of assault to murder in the first degree,” Jeanine Pirro, the attorney for Washington DC, told the Fox News program Fox & Friends. “It is a premeditated murder. There was an ambush with a gun toward people who didn’t know what was coming.”Attorney General Pam Bondi promised to seek death penalty for ‘moster’ Lakanwal. Lakanwal was allowed to enter the US under Biden’s resettlement program for Afghan refugees as he was part of the “Zero Units” — a CIA-backed Afghan paramilitary force. He was granted asylum earlier this year. As Lakanwal stares at death sentence now once he’s convicted, his family members might be sent back to deportation. “Well, we’re looking at that right now. We’re looking at the whole situation with family. Tragic situation,” Trump said on being asked about it.
