DC Box Office Collection: Lokesh Kanagaraj and Wamiqa Gabbi’s starrer is performing well at the box office in India and overseas. The film opened at ₹4.40 crore and witnessed a spike in the collection over the weekend, owing to positive word of mouth. On Sunday, the film registered 36.4 per cent growth on Sunday.
According to Sacnilk, the film collected ₹9.55 crore across 4,639 shows in India. This brings the net total to ₹20.95 crore and the gross total to ₹24.11 crore.
Overseas, the film collected ₹2.25 crore on Sunday, taking the gross total to ₹7.75 crore.
Adding domestic and overseas collections, the worldwide total stands at ₹31.86 crore.
On Sunday, the film registered 68.94 per cent overall Tamil occupancy, with the maximum reported in Coimbatore (92.3 per cent).
Helmed by Arun Matheswaran, the romantic actioner is loosely adapted from Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s novel Devdas (1917). In the film, Lokesh plays the role of Devadas, a man with a violent past who finds himself on the run from the police after a police officer is killed. As authorities hunt for the murderer, Devadas also becomes entangled in a separate case involving stolen weapons, with both investigations eventually converging. Amid the chaos, he shares a complicated relationship with Chandra. As betrayal, sacrifice and danger threaten their lives, the two are forced to rely on one another in a desperate fight for survival.
Apart from Lokesh and Wamiqa, the film also stars Sanjana Krishnamoorthy, Thalaivasal Vijay and Kasthuri Raja in pivotal roles. The music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, and he is receiving widespread praise for his tracks. The film is produced by Kalanithi Maran’s Sun Pictures.
