Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai Actress Shubhangi Atre Mourns Demise Of Writer Manoj Santoshi, Calls Him ‘Mahaan, Jaadui Lekhak’



Manoj Santoshi, best known for writing television sitcoms like Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai and FIR, breathed his last on March 24. A source close to his family has informed India Forums that the writer succumbed to a long battle with liver cancer in his hometown in Aligarh. While his family is yet to issue an official statement, the lead actress of Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai, Shubhangi Atre took to her Instagram to remember the writer and mourn his demise. 

On March 24, Shubhangi Atre took to her Instagram account to share a series of photos of Manoj Santoshi. She shared a monochrome photo of the writer followed by a goofy selfie with him on the set of the show Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai. Shubhangi, who plays the role of Angoori Bhabhi, in the serial also shared a snap from an episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati in which host Amitabh Bachchan asked the question about her character’s catchphrase, ‘Sahi Pakde Hain’. In the last slide, she added a photo of the writer with the cast members of the show. 

Shubhangi shared the photos with the caption, “Ek Mahaan aur jaadui lekhak hum sabko Alvida kehkar kisi aur duniya me chale gaye,,,iss dukh aur sadme ko kabhi nahi bhulaya jaa sakta. Lekin kehte hain naa “Zindagi lambi nahi, Badi hona chahiye” iss baat ko aap Saarthak kar gaye Manojjii. Aap bahut yaad aayenge.” Her post also serves as a confirmation of Santoshi’s death.

Manoj Santoshi breathed his last on Monday after a prolonged battle with liver cancer. According to reports, the writer fought the disease with great courage before succumbing to it. He passed away in his hometown of Aligarh, where he was surrounded by his loved ones during his final moments. Confirming the sad news, a source shared, “Manoj passed away early morning today in his hometown Aligarh. His family was present with him.”

The news of Manoj Santoshi’s battle with liver cancer came to light last month when FIR actress Kavita Kaushik took to Instagram, requesting fans to pray for his recovery. In her post, she highlighted the support that Santoshi had received from producer Binaifer Kohli and actress Shilpa Shinde. Manoj Santoshi, also wrote the popular shows Jeeja Ji Chhat Par Hain, May I Come In Madam, and Yes Boss.
