Akshay Kumar Is Determined To Make More Patriotic Movies, Says ‘I Know The Business Of Films Is Not That Big…’

Akshay Kumar makes no qualms about wearing nationalism on his sleeve. He spoke about consistently making movies about India and its local stories of heroism. Some of the titles that he touched upon making were Mission Mangal and Airlift, which showcase India’s true power through the medium of cinema. Both were hits at the box office and when asked about patriotic movies not doing well, the Bollywood star remarked that he will continue to make such films irrespective of their box office fate.

“Since I have started my production house. I have made a lot of films about my country. My wife (Twinkle Khanna), teases me, saying ‘How many times I will save my country’ (in the movies). I used to see in movies growing up that whenever there is a problem, America saves us. Be it terrorism, natural calamaties or alien attack. I always wondered, if America will do everything then what will we do? Akshay shared.

He went on to add, “Then I made Airlift based on a true story. I found the story about India’s space achievements and how in limited money we achieved a limitless thing. The movie I made was called Mission Mangal. We made Sky Force also. I know the business of films is not that big because people like entertainment. I will keep on making films about my country. After the film releases, they work on OTT. A lot of officers in the Army and Air Force and cops tell me that they show such movies to their kids. That is what I will earn.”

Akshay also shared that in the near future, he can see a time when travel for Indians around the world will be visa-free. He also lauded the commitment and the work ethic of PM Narendra Modi , who was the Chief Guest at the Republic Plenary Summit by saying, “We should be visa free very soon. I see it happening. The way he (PM Modi) is taking care of the country. The way he works… He works till 1 o clock in the night and at 5 he wakes up and goes to work again. Kaun sa PM itna kaam karta hai? Akshay said.
