After Latent, Calls For Ban On Munawar Faruqui’s Hafta Vasooli – Here’s Why, Comedian’s Hindu Mocking Statements Resurface

After Samay Raina was forced to take down all episodes of India’s Got Latent from his YouTube channel after an outcry on social media over the use of abusive language, calls for a ban on Munawar Faruqui’s comedy roast show Hafta Vasooli have now been raised on social media. Hashtags like ‘Take Down Hafta Vasooli’ and ‘Boycott Munawar’ have been trending on X, with many sharing the comedian’s old clips in which he is seen taking a dig at Hindu values and culture. While many reprimanded his brand of humour, which employs the use of expletive-laden language, others called for the show to be taken down from OTT, with immediate effect.

Hafta Vasooli started airing on JioHotstar earlier this month. Some clips of the show have been trending on social media in which the show host Munawar Faruqui was seen using abusive language while interacting with the audience members. In another clip, he was seen mocking religion and used double-meaning jokes to evoke laughter as he shared the stage with Bollywood actor Saqib Saleem.

As many called out Munawar for the content in his show, others shared his old clips in which he was seen making fun of the Hindu religion. Some even labeled him as a “hate monger” and demanded an immediate ban on Hafta Vasooli.

Meanwhile, Samay Raina continues to be in legal soup over an episode of his show India’s Got Latent also featuring Ranveer Allahbadia, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Mukhija and Ashish Chanchalani. Multiple FIRs have been filed against the panelists and the Police are investigating the use of vulgar and abusive language on the parody roast show. After the controversy, comedian and actor Harsh Gujral also reportedly took all episodes of his show The Escape Room from YouTube.

In India’s Got Latent controversy, the Maharashtra Cyber has summoned at least 50 persons to record their statements in connection with the case. They include those who participated in the show.
