Congress is leading on 67 out of 119 Telangana Assembly seats which is more than the majority mark. The party is also set to form the next government in the state

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) conceded defeat in Telangana after counting trends showed Congress inching closer to a victory in the assembly election 2023.

In a post on X, KT Rama Rao said, “Grateful to the people of Telangana for giving BRS two consecutive terms of government.”

“Congratulations to Congress party on winning the mandate,” he wrote.

‘Not saddened but disappointed’

The Telangana minister said, “Not saddened over the result today, but surely disappointed as it was not in expected lines for us.”

“But we will take this in our stride as a learning and will bounce back,” he added.

At the time of filing this report, Congress is leading on 67 out of 119 Telangana Assembly seats which is more than the majority mark. The party is also set to form the next government in the state.

The BRS, that ruled the state for a decade since its formation under K Chandrashekar Rao, is set to move out of power.

In Telangana, 119 assembly seats went to poll on 30 November. The voter turnout in the state was recorded at 71.34 per cent.
