‘He’s Doing Well’: AR Rahman’s Son Gives Health Update After Music Composer Hospitalised Due to Chest Pain



Veteran music composer AR Rahman was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai after he complained of chest pain. Now, the musician’s son AR Ameen has shared an update about his father’s health on social media.

AR Rahman’s son AR Ameen took to his Instagram handle and shared a story in which he wrote, “To all our dear fans, family, and well-wishers, I sincerely thank you for your love, prayers, and support. My father felt a bit weak due to dehydration hence we went ahead and did some routine tests, but I’m happy to share that he is doing well now.” He further shared, “Your kind words and blessings mean a lot to us. We truly appreciate your concern and continued support. Much love and gratitude to you all!”

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin said he spoke to the hospital doctors and enquired about Rahman’s health. “They have informed me that he is doing fine and will return home soon. Happy,” the CM said in a social media post.

Earlier, the music director’s sister AR Reihana refuted reports that Rahman was hospitalised after he complained of chest pain. As per PTI, she told “He had dehydration and gastric problems”. He (Rahman) has just come back home. He is perfectly fine. He was hospitalised early this morning… The doctors conducted some tests and everything was normal,” manager Senthil Velan told PTI.

The multiple-award winning musician is busy with upcoming projects including Lahore 1947, Thug Life and Tere Ishk Mein. A composer, singer and producer, AR Rahman gained nationwide fame after his soundtrack for film Tamil film Roja topped the charts. His popularity soared internationally after his track Jai Ho from Slumdog Millionaire bagged appreciation and bagged Academy Awards for Best Original Score, Best Original Song.

He is a recipient of six National Film Awards, two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe Award, six Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, fifteen Filmfare Awards, and eighteen Filmfare Awards South.  In 2010, the Government of India conferred him with the Padma Bhushan, the nation’s third-highest civilian award.
