EXCLUSIVE | John Abraham Picks Side In The Raging Nepotism Debate In Bollywood: Industry Has Been…

John Abraham has established himself in the entertainment industry without the help of his godfather. He started his career with modelling and went on to make a power-pack acting debut with the erotic thriller movie Jism, co-starring Bipasha Basu. The movie turned out to be a sleeper hit. Since then there has been no looking back for the actor. He went on to give many memorable and hit movies, such as Garam Masala, Dhoom, New York and Housefull 2. As he has built his career on his own, we asked him about his take on Nepotism.

In an interview with Republic, John said he has no problem with nepotism as the industry has been very kind to him. He further stated that one should focus on oneself rather than pointing fingers at other’s acting skills. “A doctor’s son can become a doctor. The industrialist’s son becomes an industrialist. The difference here is that they are educated. They have to go to education. Here, I don’t have a problem,” he said.

“We all find our place in the industry. The industry has been very kind to me. I have never had a problem. If someone does get an extra opportunity, it’s fine. Can’t be sour about it. You just have to chill out and do your work. Look at how good you are, rather than looking at someone else and seeing how good or bad they are. Look inside your own house and see how you can get better,” he added.

Many female actresses have expressed concern over receiving a lower fee in comparison to male actors despite being a superstars. When asked actor to share his two cents on the ongoing pay parity debate, the actor believed it’s not about gender but about commerce. He believes that if either gender is able to deliver, then he/she should be paid fairly. “I don’t think it’s about gender. It is about commerce. If we keep gender out of this and speak about commerce. If any actor, male or female is delivering what they can, then I think they should be paid better,” the actor told Republic.

The actor is in the news owing to the release of The Diplomat, marking his first movie of 2025. The political drama received positive reviews from movie buffs and went on to earn ₹4 crore at the box office in India.
