SSMB29 is currently filming in Koraput, Odisha. Some leaks featuring Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran from the set of the film had generated curiosity surrounding the project. After Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj’s crucial scenes were leaked from SS Rajamouli’s upcoming film, deputy chief minister of Odisha Pravati Parida sent a shout-out to the team, confirming major speculations surrounding the project.
Taking to X, the deputy CM of Odisha posted, “Director SS Rajamouli’s upcoming film SSMB29, starring South superstars Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran, along with internationally acclaimed actress Priyanka Chopra, is being shot in Koraput, proving that Odisha has a wealth of cinematic landscapes for film shooting. This will give a major boost to Odisha Tourism.”
While Priyanka’s association with SSMB29 was only a chatter till now, her role in the movie stands confirmed by Parvati Parida. Her X post came after the Dostana actress shared some scenic views from Odisha, hinting at joining the shoot of the film with the other cast and crew members.
The actress, whose last Indian movie was The Sky Is Pink (2019), is reportedly charging ₹30 crore for SSMB29, making her highest-paid Indian actress. The film is said to be set in Kashi.
“The core conflict of the jungle adventure unfolds in Kashi, and the makers are looking to recreate the land of Shiva in Hyderabad, as it’s logistically difficult to can a film of this scale at real locations. The plot of SSR x SSMB is deeply rooted in the history of Kaashi, as the divine past leads to an unforgettable adventure in the present. Kashi serves itself as a very important character of the film,” a source in the matter told Pinkvilla.
