IIFA 2025: Kartik Aaryan, Nitanshi Goel’s Win Sparks Debate Among Netizens, Call It ‘Joke Of The Year’



The IIFA Awards 2025 concluded its event on Sunday, March 9, in Jaipur. The event was attended by who’s who from Bollywood and several videos and pictures from the ceremony has gone viral. However, netizens are unhappy with Kartik Aaryan and Nitanshi Goel’s win.

Best Film went to Laapataa Ladies, Best Director award was given to Kiran Rao, Kartik Aaryan won Best Actor Male award for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, and Best Actor Female award was given to Laapataa Ladies actress Nitanshi Goel.

Though many lauded the duo for their massive win, and there were other who were angered by them winning it. One user wrote, “Dude he doesn’t deserve it for bb3 but for Chandu Champion definitely”. Another user wrote, “Joke of the year..@iifa @kartikaaryan , PR team and his fans…”congrats and well done”. “Worts award show..no credibility at all..kisiko bhi de dete hai”, wrote the third user. Another social media user wrote,  “Worst choice for iifa this year”.

This year’s IIFA saw many Bollywood celebrities celebrating the milestone. The winner of the night was Laapataa Ladies who swept 10 awards into their pocket. While Kartik Aarya and Nitanshi Goel’s big win. While Raghav Juyal won for his negative role in Kill, while Lakshya Lalwani won the best debut.

In a first, the IIFA awards was held in India, contrary to abroad like the past 25 years. The celebrations unravelled in Jaipur’s JECC (Jaipur Exhibition & Convention Centre). The event was spread out for three days which commenced with a Journey of Women in Cinema panel on March 7 and ended on March 9 with nostalgic performances by celebrities.
