NEW DELHI: India defeated New Zealand by four wickets to claim a record third Champions Trophy title on Sunday, supported by a strong spin bowling performance and a valiant 76 from Rohit Sharma.
Before KL Rahul produced an undefeated 34 to help seal victory with six balls remaining in the final in Dubai, India, who were chasing 252 to win, got off to a quick start thanks to their captain’s first half-century of the competition.
After the celebrations and presentations in the stadium, the Indian cricket team returned to the hotel in Dubai where they were given a grand welcome.
A viral video shows the staff of the hotel lined up on the sides as the Indian cricketers and support staff enter to loud music and cheering by Indian fans.

India surpassed Australia, who had two titles, by adding trophies in 2002 and 2013.
India, the top-ranked ODI team in the world, stayed undefeated in the eight-nation competition held in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.
India played all their matches at the Dubai International Stadium after they refused to tour hosts Pakistan.
