Harmanpreet Kaur fined for Code of Conduct breach in Women's Premier League

Mumbai Indians‘ skipper Harmanpreet Kaur received a fine of 10 percent of her match fee for expressing disagreement with the umpire’s ruling during their match against UP Warriorz at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
“Harmanpreet Kaur admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.8 which relates to showing dissent at an umpire’s decision during a match,” a WPL press release said.
“For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding.”

The situation unfolded when umpire Ajitesh Argal notified Harmanpreet that the slow over-rate meant only three fielders were permitted outside the circle for the final over of UPW’s innings.
Visibly displeased with the decision, she engaged in a short discussion with the official, while her teammate Amelia Kerr also participated in the conversation.
Harmanpreet was also involved in a confrontation with UP Warriorz player Sophie Ecclestone when the latter, positioned at the non-striker’s end, approached the umpire to communicate something.

Harmanpreet responded assertively, apparently directing Ecclestone to not involve herself in the discussion.
The situation required intervention from square-leg official N Janani and UP Warriorz skipper Deepti Sharma, who worked to ease the building tension.
Subsequently, UP Warriorz posted 150 for 9, which Mumbai Indians chased down successfully, reaching the target in 18.3 overs.
