The build-up to the fifth and final T20I between India and England at the Rose Bowl in Southampton took an unusual turn on Saturday after the Indian team was delayed in traffic, forcing a change to the pre-match schedule. While India were yet to arrive at the venue, England’s players made the most of the extra time by taking part in a relaxed game of rondo, a popular football training drill used by several sports teams to improve quick passing, movement and reflexes. The hosts appeared relaxed despite the unexpected delay, with players enjoying the warm-up session as they waited for the visitors to reach the stadium. Videos from the ground showed England’s cricketers exchanging quick passes in a tight circle, a routine that has become a common feature in football training sessions and is also used by cricket teams to sharpen coordination before matches. The delay was caused after the Indian team bus got caught in traffic on its way to the Rose Bowl. As a result, the toss, originally scheduled before the 7:00 PM IST start, was postponed by 30 minutes. Officials later confirmed that the toss would take place at 7:15 PM IST, with the match set to begin at 7:30 PM IST.Watch: England players enjoy a game of rondo football while waiting for India’s delayed arrival at the Rose BowlOnce the Indian team reached the venue, preparations quickly gathered pace. Captain Shreyas Iyer was seen walking onto the field carrying his bat and gloves for a brief practice session, while all-rounder Suryansh Shedge was spotted marking his run-up, fuelling speculation that he could feature in the playing XI. There were also indications that India could make a few changes after a disappointing series.England head into the contest with an unassailable 3-0 lead after the opening game was washed out and will be aiming to complete a 4-0 series victory. India, meanwhile, are looking to avoid a whitewash and end a difficult tour on a positive note.
