School shooting in central Philippines leaves three dead, five injured

Three people were killed in a shooting at a school in the central Philippines on Monday, police said. Authorities arrested one suspect shortly after the attack and launched a manhunt for a second suspect who remains at large.The shooting took place at around 9 am inside a school in Barangay San Jose, local news outlet Inquirer. net reported, citing police officials.According to an initial report from the Tacloban City Police Office’s Police Station 1, officers responded immediately after receiving information about the shooting and found that eight people had been struck by gunfire.Police said eight people were struck by gunfire in the incident. Of them, three died, while five others sustained injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released the identities of the victims, saying their families are yet to be notified.According to local media reports, police said one suspect, identified as a Child in Conflict with the Law (CICL) and a resident of Barangay San Jose, was apprehended shortly after the shooting.The Tacloban City Police Office said a full investigation is underway to establish the sequence of events and determine the motive behind the attack. Authorities are also conducting follow-up inquiries as they continue efforts to locate the remaining suspect.
