Bangladesh 55/2 in 11.0 Overs | BAN vs AUS Live Score, 3rd ODI: Bangladesh opt to bat against Australia

BAN vs AUS Live Score, 3rd ODI: Bangladesh opted to bat first after winning the toss in the third and final ODI against Australia in Dhaka, with skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto hoping his side could maintain the momentum that has already secured the series.

Shanto pointed to the dry conditions and the likelihood of the pitch slowing down later in the day as key reasons behind the decision. Bangladesh made two changes, bringing back Soumya Sarkar, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz was ruled out after suffering a concussion. Though Mehidy was recovering well, Shanto said doctors had imposed restrictions and advised the all-rounder to take a few days’ rest.

The series decider is being played on pitch No. 4, the same surface used in the first ODI where Bangladesh posted 284. Despite some rain before the start and drier grass compared to the opening game, the wicket is expected to remain a good batting surface with enough pace and bounce underneath. Humid conditions could aid early swing, while spinners are likely to come into play as the match progresses, making a score around 284 a competitive target.

Australia, desperate to salvage some pride after losing the first two matches, made a couple of changes with Ben Dwarshuis and Ollie Peake returning to the XI. Stand-in captain Josh Inglis acknowledged the tourists’ disappointing campaign and said the side was determined to deliver a strong performance and finish the series 2-1.

Bangladesh, meanwhile, will draw confidence from Mosaddek Hossain’s impressive return, with the all-rounder expected to once again play a key role on a surface suited for stroke-making.
