NEW DELHI: Pakistan batter Salman Agha has been officially reprimanded by the ICC after losing his temper during the second Test against Bangladesh national cricket team in Sylhet. The incident happened when Salman was dismissed in Pakistan’s second innings and hit an advertising board with his bat while walking back to the pavilion.The ICC found Salman guilty of breaking Article 2.2 of the Code of Conduct, which relates to damaging or abusing cricket equipment and ground fixtures during an international match. Along with the reprimand, one demerit point was added to his disciplinary record. It was his second offence in the last 24 months, taking his total tally to two demerit points.Salman accepted the punishment proposed by ICC match referee Jeff Crowe, meaning there was no need for a formal hearing. The charge was reported by on-field umpires Richard Kettleborough and Allahuddien Palekar, along with third umpire Kumar Dharmasena and fourth umpire Masudur Rahman Mukul.Level 1 ICC offences can lead to an official warning, fines or demerit points depending on the seriousness of the incident.The disciplinary issue came during a disappointing match for Pakistan, who lost the second Test by 78 runs. Bangladesh completed a historic 2-0 series sweep after spinner Taijul Islam starred with a six-wicket haul while defending a target of 437.Despite the defeat, Salman was one of Pakistan’s better performers in the second innings. He scored 71 runs and shared an important partnership with Mohammad Rizwan while trying to save the match.The loss has pushed Pakistan down to eighth place in the World Test Championship standings, with the team managing just one win from four matches in the current cycle.
