Katrina Kaif recently visited Prayagraj with her mother-in-law Veena Kaushal during Maha Kumbh. During her stay, she took a holy dip in Triveni Sangam. However, despite taking a dip in the VIP section, her fans surrounded the actress and took her videos which are now going viral on the internet. The video shows other devotees, particularly men clicking selfies or calling out to her to gain her attention. A video also showed men joking about the actress as she offered prayers. This didn’t go down well with Raveena Tandon, who took to the comment section to condemn the act.
Raveena Tandon, netizens slam people filming Katrina Kaif while taking a dip in Sangam
In a viral video, two men can be seen expressing their happiness at seeing Katrina Kaif. They can be heard saying, “Ye main hu, ye mera bhai hai, aur ye Katrina Kaif (this is me, this is my brother and this is Katrina Kaif).” This video has not just upset Raveena Tandon, but also others on the internet. Netizens have called out the men for harassing the actress. The veteran actress wrote, “This is disgusting. These kinds of people spoil a moment that is supposed to be peaceful and meaningful.”
A user wrote, “That’s why VIP culture still exists in India.” Another user wrote, “This is Bharat. Zero Civic Sense. Only God’s name in their lips and not in their heart.” A third user wrote, “This is not cool…this is shameful!!” A fan wrote, “Tum dharm ke naam pe kalank ho jabko woh dusri dharm se aakar dharm ko palan kar raha hai.”
This is not the first time the issue has been raised. Earlier also women complained of being recorded while taking a holy dip in Triveni Sangam.
Maha Kumbh Mela commenced on January 13, 2025, and concluded on February 26, on the occasion of Mahashivratri.
When Katrina was in Prayagraj, she was joined by Raveena Tandon and her daughter Rasha Thadani. Together they performed Ganga aarti with Swami Chidanand Saraswati, President of Parmarth Niketan Ashram. Later, Katrina attended the evening bhajan organised by the spiritual guru.
After visiting Maha Kumbh, the Dhoom 3 actress opened up about her experience and told ANI, “This Kumbh has come after 144 years. So, my friends and I have come here from Mumbai. We have come not just for Ganga Snan but also to our ‘home’. Swami ji’s home is my home, my children’s home.” She called herself “fortunate” to visit Maha Kumbh and was grateful to meet and take blessings of Swami Chidanand Saraswati.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Katrina Kaif is yet to announce her next project. She was last seen in Merry Christmas, alongside Vijay Sethupathi.
