Tata, Hyundai slip in February while Maruti holds ground, M&M, Toyota, Kia report double-digit growth in auto sales


Tata Motors and Hyundai Motor India in February reported a 8% and a 3% year on year (YoY) decline in total vehicle wholesale numbers respectively while market leader Maruti Suzuki reported a marginal growth of less than 1%. Mahindra & Mahindra, Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Kia put up a strong show with a growth of 15%, 13% and 24% respectively, data released by individual companies on Saturday show. 

Maruti Suzuki reported wholesale of 1,99,400 units as compared with 1,97,471 units a year ago, up 0.97%. This includes domestic passenger vehicles (PV) wholesale of 1,60,791 (1,60,271) units.

Hyundai reported PV wholesales of 58,727 units as compared with 60,501 units a year ago, down 2.93%. This includes domestic PV sales of 47,727 units (50,201) units.

Tata Motors made a total wholesale of 79,344 units as compared with 86,406 units, down 8.17%. This volume includes domestic PV sales of 46,435 (51,267) units.

Mahindra & Mahindra reported total wholesale of 83,702 units as compared with 72,923 units a year ago, up 14.78%. This includes SUV sales of 50,420 units (42,401) units, up 19%.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has announced sales of 28,414 units in the month of February 2025 up 13% over the year ago period.

In the domestic market, TKM sold 26,414 units, while exports stood at 2,000 units.

Kia India registered total sales of 25,026 units, up 23.8% compared to the 20,200 units sold in February last year. 

Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL), leading registered total PV sales of 10,323 units in February 2025 including domestic sales of 5,616 units and exports at 4,707 units. This is a 21% fall from 13,078 sold in February 2024 including 7,142 units sold in the domestic market. 

In the two wheeler and three wheeler segment Suzuki Motorcycles and Scooters reported 9% YoY drop on sales to 90,206 units, Royal Enfield witnessed 19% YoY growth in unit sales at 90,670 units and TVS Motor Company’s total volume grew 10% to 4,03,976 units.
