Tanmay Bhat Calls Himself ‘Patient Zero’ Of Controversial Comedy Amid Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent Row

India’s Got Latent controversy blew up after Ranveer Allahbadia’s crass and perverted comments were objected to by various sections on social media and the authorities. Subsequently, summons were issued to over 50 people who have been involved with the YouTube show, including Apoorva Mukhija, Ashish Chanchalani, Jaspreet Singh (part of the controversial episode), Raghu Ram, Rakhi Sawant and more.

Now, Samay’s colleague Tanmay Bhat has reacted to the controversy after a netizen on his live stream claimed that the latter has remained silent in this developing row and not offered his fellow comic any sort of public support.

In response, Tanmay touched upon the AIB Roast controversy of 2015, which involved him alongside other AIB members, Ranveer Singh , Arjun Kapoor and host Karan Johar. Tanmay called himself “patient zero” among comedians who have faced backlash for comments and jokes made in public.

“Whenever someone in your family falls sick with a rare illness, you remember an uncle who had the same condition seven years ago and call him to ask about it. I am comedy’s patient zero,” he said during his livestream when one of the guests asked him about how he was not “taking a stand” for Samay.

Meanwhile, Tanmay also found the support of comedian Rohan Joshi, who added, “We are literally here doing our job. What more stand do you need?” Comedian Kaustubh referred to Tanmay as Samay’s “mentor” and joked, “Aapko bol rahe hain. Aap the uske (Samay) godfather… (They are asking you as you were his godfather).”

In the past week, Ranveer Allahbadia and some others associated with the controversy have recorded their statements with the Police as investigations continue. Samay, meanwhile, is in the US for is Unfiltered With Samay tour. Reportedly, some of his shows in India stand cancelled.
