Republic Youth Summit 2025: Manushi Chhillar’s Take On Criticism And Controversies That Come From Social Media Usage

Manushi Chhillar graced the Republic Youth Summit 2025 with her appearance today, February 28. The former Miss World has an extensive chat over various topics, such as her journey from pursuing MBBS to winning Miss World and making her debut alongside Akshay Kumar in Samrat Prithviraj. Among all, she was also asked to share her two cents on controversies and criticism that come from social media. She concluded her take in one sentence “I think people take social media too seriously”. She elaborated on her opinion by giving her example of joining social media as she had to compete in Miss India. She doesn’t enjoy it much. However, she believes it is a “great” platform to put forth what one wants to say.

“There’s a certain amount of personality that you can build through social media. And I mean, I’m an actor. I know the value of creating perception, but I think that’s pretty much it. I feel the pressure I mean, I think people shouldn’t take the pressure of social media or maintaining a certain image on social media unless it really adds value to your life. It adds value to your profession because today I have a younger brother and I see a lot of his friends,” she continued.

Manushi further stated that Instagram has become a bubble for all the youngsters and gave an example of her brother’s friends, how they carry tripods during vacations to create content just to keep their Instagram “look good”. “They come with tripods and everything and they’re like, we have to create content. And I said, for what? They said, no. It’s not how you know our Instagram needs to look. And I said that’s too much pressure on you at your age,” adding to this, she said, “I feel like we need to understand that Instagram is also a certain bubble. You know, we always talk about this that being Instagram famous might also be like being rich in monopoly.”

She stated that Instagram is “great” but only to support other things, but if it’s purely focusing on social media then she believes it’s “not a very healthy way of living because the real world is very different”.

In the same conversation, Manushi revealed whenever she is filming and wants to be mentally in a different space, she deletes all her social media apps from her phone. She further joked that it would have been great if someone else was curating her social media content. But it’s her only who handles her social media pages except when she is busy filming.

The Bade Miyan Chote Miyan actress recalled the time she joined social media and she had just won Miss World. “When you have a few hundred to thousands of followers, initially, and think they have become your friends. However, she eventually realised that it was not getting me anywhere so she stopped actively using social media.

The actress will be next seen alongside John Abraham in Tehran, which is produced by Maddox. She is also reportedly part of Saif Ali Khan’s Race 4.
