Rana argued that playing with damp gloves could impact both performance and safety, especially in high-pressure moments of the game, the situation added to the tension already building in the final overs, with Delhi needing a strong finish to stay in the contest. Just moments after the denied request, Stubbs’ innings came to an abrupt end. Attempting to clear the infield, he miscued a shot off Jamie Overton, only to be caught by Noor Ahmad at mid-off. Rana penalised for Code of Conduct breach
Following the incident, Rana was fined 25% of his match fee and handed one demerit point for breaching Level 1 of the IPL Code of Conduct. The offence fell under Article 2.3, which relates to the use of an audible obscenity during a match. The breach occurred during his argument with the fourth umpire in the 19th over.Rana admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction imposed by the match referee, bringing closure to the incident.
