Rajamouli The Reason For My Suicide: Director’s Friend Srinivasa Dies At 55, Alleges ‘Torture’ By Him, Involvement Of Woman

SS Rajamouli, known for directing some of Indian cinema’s biggest hits like Baahubali and RRR, has been accused of “torture” by the Executive Producer of his 2007 movie Yamadonga, Srinivasa Rao. He reportedly died by suicide aged 55. Rao penned a letter to Mettuguda police officials, and recorded a selfie video in which he revealed that he has been friends with Rajamouli since 1990 and they worked together till 2007. However, Rao alleged Rajamouli “ruined his life” after they got into an argument.

Rao, allegedly sent a selfie video and a letter to the close friends of the filmmaker before he died by suicide. In the clips, he blamed Rajamouli for putting him through tremendous “torture”, which prompted him to take such a drastic step. His sudden death and the alleged videos have led to calls for an investigation of Rajamouli over claims made in the video. The involvement of a mystery woman in the case is also suspected, making the matter even more scandalous.

Reportedly, Rao claimed in the video that Rajamouli and he have a ‘triangle love story’ with a woman, like in director Sukumar’s film Arya 2. “He asked me to sacrifice my love for her, and while I didn’t agree at first, I did later on. He believed I’d told people about this, and he began torturing me after we got into an argument. We worked together till Yamadonga (2007), but he ruined my life after that. He tortured me so much since he became a big shot. I am 55 years old and have lived a single life,” Rao alleged, asking the police to do a lie detector test in his final video.
