Who Was Michelle Trachtenberg? Buffy The Vampire Slayer Actress Dies At 39



Michelle Trachtenberg, best known for her role in Gossip Girl, was found dead at her New York City Apartment on Wednesday, February 26, per AP. Police responded to a 911 call shortly after 8 AM in Manhattan’s Hell’s Kitchen neighbourhood where officers found the actress “unconscious and unresponsive,” according to an NYPD statement. “The family requests privacy for their loss,” Trachtenberg’s representative, Gary Mantoosh, said in a statement Wednesday. It was reported that Tranchtenberg underwent a liver transplant recently and might have faced complications. Her death is believed to be from natural causes, but an autopsy is yet to be conducted.

She was born on October 11, 1985, in New York City. Her parents were Jewish immigrants, her father from Germany and her mother from Russia.

Trachtenberg made her first screen debut at three by featuring in TV commercials. However, when she turned 8, she made her acting debut with the show, Law & Order but rose to fame with The Adventures of Pete & Pete (1994-96). As a child actress, she appeared in several shows, such as All My Children, Dave’s World and Reading Rainbow. She found further success in the TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer (2000–2003) as Dawn Summers.

Apart from TV shows, she has also worked in movies, such as Harriet the Spy, Euro Trip, Ice Princess, 17 Again and The Scribbler.

She was last seen in Gossip Girl where she reprised her role as Georgina Sparks for the revival episode.

Her last Instagram post was made a week ago, that shows a close-up photo of her from an event. She captioned the post as “I wanted to look like naughty #tinkerbell 💚 #throwback”.

Celebs also took to social media to mourn one of their own, one who had made the transition from kid star to teen queen to adult actor.
