Mere Husband Ki Biwi Box Office Collection Day 1: Bhumi-Arjun-Rakul’s Family Drama Records 2025’s Second-Worst Opener



Mere Husband Ki Biwi Box Office Collection Day 1: Arjun Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and Rakul Preet Singh starrer comedy-drama hit the theatres on Friday, February 21. After extensive promotion across many cities, the comic drama lands on the ground with decent reviews. But, as it turns out, this has not helped boost the film’s collections at all.  In fact it notches the second-lowest opening of 2025 with a disastrous start.

The recent film Azaad, which starred newcomers Rasha Thadani and Aaman Devgan, made ₹1.5 crore at the box office and was declared a flop within a week. Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency grossed ₹18.35 crore during its theatrical run, and opened with ₹2.5 crore. And with this, Mere Husband Ki Biwi positions as one of the weakest Bollywood openers of 2025. As per sacnilk, it made ₹1.5 crore on its opening day. The only mainstream Hindi film to perform worse was Loveyapa, starring Khushi Kapoor and Junaid Khan, which earned ₹1.15 crore.

Mere Husband Ki Biwi was directed by Mudassar Aziz, known for helming the Akshay Kumar-starrer Khel Khel Mein which failed at the box office and struggled to surpass ₹40 crore despite its star-studded cast.

Since its release, the film appears to have got audience interest, receiving a mix of positive responses in theatres. Fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to share mostly mixed reviews. Going by the early reviews, the comedy film has made its place in the hearts of its audience however box office collection shows a different picture. One viewer wrote, “It’s the kind of film that makes you laugh, makes you feel something, and keeps you hooked till the end. Bas aise aur films chahiye Bollywood se!” However, not many like as feel call the movie ‘blahh.’ The story follows Arjun Kapoor as Ankur, a Delhi-based realtor who starts a new romance with Rakul Preet Singh’s character after facing challenges and divorcing his ex-wife, portrayed by Bhumi Pednekar, who suffers from retrograde amnesia.
