BREAKING: Supreme Court Issues Notice On Ashish Chanchlani’s Plea Against Multiple FIRs

Ashish Chanchlani moved to the Supreme Court to quash multiple FIRs filed against him for the offence of obscenity over the lewd remarks made during the latest episode of India’s Got Latent Show. On Friday, the court heard the matter and issued a notice against the FIRs filed against the YouTuber. Supreme Court has also issued notice to the states – Maharashtra and Assam – on Chanchlani’s plea and tagged his matter with Ranveer Allahbadia’s plea.

The Supreme Court on Friday sought a response from the Maharashtra and Assam governments on a plea of Chanchlani seeking to either quash or transfer his FIR registered in Guwahati to Mumbai. Chanchalani, who has been granted interim bail by the High Court, was booked in connection with a case of allegedly promoting obscenity in India’s Got Latent. The FIR was registered by the Guwahati Police on a complaint of an individual on February 10 under various sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhtia (BNS), Information Technology Act, Cinematograph Act and Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act

Chanchlani had co-judged the comedy show with Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina and Apoorva Mukhija.

The bench told Chanchlani’s counsel that he was already granted bail in the matter. Admitting to this, his counsel said the YouTuber has got the relief, but he was against lodging multiple FIRs in connection with that show. To this, the bench replied, it was already hearing the issue and tagged Chanchlani’s plea.

Chanchlani’s plea has come after the top court granted interim protection from arrest to Ranveer Allahbadia over his comments on India’s Got Latent show while calling it “vulgar” and saying he had a “dirty mind” which put society to “shame”. His hearing was heard on February 18.

After Samay Raina, Ranveer Allahbadia, Ashish Chanchlani and Apoorva Mukhija, Maharashtra Cyber Cell has summoned Rakhi Sawant in connection to India’s Got Latent Controversy. She was called to record her statement on February 27, per Yashasvi Yadav, IG, Maharashtra Cyber Cell. For the unversed, the Bigg Boss 13’s participant has co-judged a show where they engaged in a heated conversation with co-judge Maheep Singh and in rage she threw a chair on the stage before walking off.
