The governmentis formulating strategies to ensure that the interests of exporters and people are protected, Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry and Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada said on Tuesday.

“You get up in the morning, and you see a tweet and the whole world is shocked… that’s the way the world has become,” he said at the EEPC India National Awards ceremony. “There could be hiccups. Times have changed. There are your issues with regard to how we will be navigating ourselves with the new regime changes in other parts of the world,” he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal are “fully hands on” and are thinking ahead on the “bumps, speed breakers, and challenges that might arise,” Mr. Prasada said.

India is formulating its strategies accordingly to ensure that the interests of its exporters and people are protected by the government. The government is now agile, responsive, and makes changes with changes in the global scenario and internal and external challenges, he said.

Indian exports in 2023-2024 at $778.21 billion is 67% more than the exports in 2013-2014. These are challenging times but Indian exporters have shown resilience. While COVID, climate change, and conflict have affected the world, India is still way ahead and on a strong foundation, he said.
