Gautam Gambhir warns Team India: 'We're still not at our target for the T20 World Cup'

Indian cricket team’s head coach Gautam Gambhir has addressed the team’s preparation status for the upcoming T20 World Cup. He shared his thoughts in a recent interview with bcci.tv.The interview preview reveals Gambhir’s focus on fitness and preparation ahead of the major tournament.“Our dressing room has been very transparent and honest, and we aim to maintain that. I think we’re still not at our target for the T20 World Cup,” he mentioned in the 46-second clip, which precedes the full interview scheduled for later in the day.

“Hopefully, the players understand the importance of being fit. We have three months left to reach where we need to be,” he added.The T20 World Cup will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka in February-March next year. India enters the tournament as the defending champions.“Throw players into the deep end, it’s as simple as that. We did the same with Shubman Gill when he was named Test captain,” he said. Shubman Gill has shown promising leadership skills in his debut Test series as captain against England. The series ended in a 2-2 draw, with all matches lasting five days.Gill’s captaincy record includes a 2-0 Test series victory against West Indies at home. His team recently faced a 1-2 ODI series defeat in Australia.India is preparing to host South Africa for a two-match Test series. The first match begins on November 14 at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens.The South African Test squad has arrived in Kolkata. Captain Temba Bavuma joined the team after participating in the second Unofficial Test between India A and South Africa A in Bengaluru.Both teams are expected to begin their training sessions at Eden Gardens on Tuesday.
