NEW DELHI: Team India vice-captain Shreyas Iyer remains in the ICU of a Sydney hospital as he recovers from a severe fall sustained during the third ODI against Australia.Iyer, who took a spectacular catch while running backward from point to dismiss Alex Carey, appeared to injure his left rib cage in the process and was taken to the hospital shortly after returning to the dressing room on Saturday.It is reliably learnt that Iyer’s vitals dropped alarmingly after the incident, prompting the medical team to rush him to the hospital in what was described as a potentially life-threatening situation.Here’s a timeline of events detailing Iyer’s injury, hospitalisation, and recovery process:OCTOBER 25During the third ODI against Australia, Shreyas Iyer took a stunning catch running backwards from backward point to send Alex Carey packing. In the process, he appeared to hurt his left rib cage.He was taken off the field immediately.After returning to the dressing room, Iyer began experiencing discomfort.He was rushed to a hospital in Sydney.OCTOBER 25 (Later that day)The BCCI medical team noticed fluctuations in Iyer’s vital parameters and immediately decided to hospitalise him.
