Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja reached another milestone in his illustrious Test career by surpassing former captain MS Dhoni to become India’s fourth-highest six-hitter in Test cricket. The feat came during the first Test against West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. On Day 2, Jadeja scored an unbeaten 50 off 81 balls, featuring three fours and four sixes, all of them against Jomel Warrican. With this, Jadeja’s six tally rose to 79 in 86 Tests, overtaking Dhoni’s 78 sixes in 90 matches.

Jadeja’s innings was part of a strong partnership with Dhruv Jurel. Starting the session at 218/4, India extended their lead steadily. The duo displayed aggressive intent, hitting three sixes in just eight balls between the 71st and 72nd overs. Jadeja ran down the pitch to dispatch two massive sixes over long-on and mid-on, while Jurel contributed with stylish boundaries. Their partnership brought India past 250 in 74.3 overs and 300 in 87 overs, eventually reaching a 100-run stand in 151 balls. Jadeja’s unbeaten 50 included a single off Warrican that marked his 28th Test fifty.

This is Jadeja’s seventh fifty-plus score in Tests this year, the most by any Indian batter in 2025. Across seven Tests and 13 innings, he has scored 605 runs at an average of 75.62, with a century and six fifties. He is also closing in on 4,000 Test runs, needing less than 40 runs to reach the milestone. At the end of the second session, India were 326/4, with Jurel on 68* and Jadeja on 50*, strengthening India’s strong position against the West Indies.
