Mumbai: In what will be a big relief for the Indian women’s team just ahead of their 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup campaign, fast bowler Arundhati Reddy, who suffered a knee injury during the warm-up match against England at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru on Thursday, is “perfectly fine,” TOI has learnt. “Arundhati is perfectly fine. The scans (after her injury) revealed nothing,” a source in the BCCI told TOI. The pacer, who had dismissed England opener Amy Jones (lbw for 39 off 46 balls) just two balls earlier, was struck on her left knee while trying to take a return catch from a drive by Heather Knight in the 13th over. Reddy collapsed to the ground. The team physio and reserve players tried to help her walk off the field, but she was unable to put weight on her left foot and eventually had to leave the field in a wheelchair. Consequently, Jemimah Rodrigues completed the 13th over, bowling the last two deliveries.

India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur under pressure ahead of ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025?

India launch their 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup campaign against co-hosts Sri Lanka in Guwahati on September 30, the opening day of the tournament. In a bid to keep players fresh for the World Cup, India rested skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, and ace allrounder Deepti Sharma from the first warm-up match. India will play their second warm-up match against New Zealand at the CoE in Bengaluru on Saturday before flying to Guwahati on Sunday for the opening match. Reddy is among the four seamers in India’s squad for the World Cup. This will be her first WODI World Cup. She has taken 15 wickets in 11 WODIs, with a best haul of four for 26 against Australia in December last year. Having performed well for Delhi Capitals over the past two seasons, Reddy made her WODI debut against South Africa in Bengaluru last year.
